5 out of 5 stars These rising stars are already at the top of their game   July 14, 2010

Often I'm left with only two or three songs from a free sampler that I ever want to hear again, although granted that this has more to do with personal taste than the artist's work. The "rightness" of all of these songs survived my elimination process even when they were not a style that I think I prefer.

1. Shake, Shiver, and Moan is a haunting, blues-influenced song that builds in fear and intensity. Disturbing. Excellent beginning to this mix.

2. Slow Burn...great guitar riffs. Sounds like a live gig at a popular bar by a skilled, gifted band.

3. Super Toys...loved the gorgeous, delicate harmonies backed by a ferocious driving beat. Hypnotic. Lovely.

4. Oslo Campfire is the most deeply touching song I've heard in a while. It describes great loss and grief, and the hope that comes out of the changes we make in ourselves to survive it. A keeper forever.

5. I first saw The White Rabbits on David Letterman. This moody, reflective song well represents the music of this gifted band.

6. So So Happy Making...what a positive, life-affirming song! Wonderful after the previous deeply reflective and moving pieces. This is going on my road trip mix. While listening, I felt that joy in life that Travis Tritt's "It's A Great Day To Be Alive" always gives me when in a country mood.

7. Precious Air...another lovely reflective song with great guitar, piano, and strings. Gave me a "Moody Blues" kind of feeling. Check out Other Lives great single "Black Tables". It's been featured on Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and One Tree Hill.

Seven great bands with songs carefully chosen to represent their work well - thanks TBD Records and Amazon.

if you are into indie music that's a little bit emo, as the kids say.... this is a great sampler from a super cool up and coming label. all the songs are pretty good, but the stand outs are Autolux, Port O'Brien, White Rabbits, Other Lives ... did i mention, Autolux? FREE. go for it.

I enter this 5 star review to counter the one star "review" from the person who single-stared this album because he doesn't like the Amazon download process. Reviews are for the artist(s) and their work, not extraneous opinions that don't relate to that work. Take up your concerns with Amazon, not here in the review pages. your "review" did nothing to help me consider this product. That said, this is a nice assortment of indie rock.

What a ripoff. You install the downloader , enter your credit card details and then and only then - AFTER they have all your details, they tell you "You cant have them - you dont live in the USA".

A simple line on the page acknowledging the fact would be nice.

A simple "Do You live uin the USA BEFORE you enter all your data, would be nice.

Sorry TBD Records - a massive fail on your part.
