Amazon.com Taylor Dayne made her reputation as a latter-day disco diva whose hits "Tell It to My Heart" and "Can't Get Enough of Your Love" (the latter a remake of the famed Barry White hit) showed off her big, brassy voice, an instrument that seldom surrendered to the '80s-style synth-pop production that (unfortunately) almost always accompanied it. Greatest Hits collects the best of Dayne's three albums and keeps the tempo shifting nicely between ballads (which Dayne excels at) and uptempo dance tunes (including several new remixes). Her material has its limitations, but the power of Dayne's voice is never in question. --Daniel Durchholz

Dayne's Best August 16, 2001 Chris S. (atlanta, ga United States) 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
One of the greatest dance pop singers to come out of the eighties was Long Island's Taylor Dayne. Possessed of a voice that could literally wipe the floor with the competition(only Whitney Houston matched her vocally), she churned out a string of dance-pop and ballad hits, starting with 'Tell It To My Heart'. This collection is a sterling sample of some of Dayne's finest moments, with 'I'll Be Your Shelter' and 'Heart Of Stone' giving wonderfully opposing ends of the spectrum to which Dayne could easily gravitate. It also contains the essential tracks from her mediocre '93 set SOUL DANCING, including her exquisite reworking of Barry White's 'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love'. It's too bad that her label seemingly gave up on her after that project--that single and 'Send Me A Lover' should have been huge and furthered her cause, but instead were pretty much met with indifference. Nonetheless, this is essential listening for fans of superior eighties pop(also noteworthy are her '89 album CAN'T FIGHT FATE and last project NAKED WITHOUT YOU). Highly recommended.
One of the best singers of the 80's. April 26, 2003 Javier Lopez (Peru) 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
It's almost impossible not to remember Taylor Dayne. She released several hits in the 80's and this cd it's a proof of that. Some of her biggest songs are her Top 10 singles; "Tell it to my heart", "With every beat of my heart", "Don't rush me", "Say a prayer" and her #1 "Love will lead you back". She also had several Grammy nominations and 2 of her albums were Platinum x2. One of my favorite songs in this album is the cover from Barry White "Can't get enough from your love".I strongly recommend this cd. It's been a long time but I still enjoy Taylor's music. If you like her music you'll also like Anastacia, who has her style and voice.
CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF TAYLOR DAYNE! October 2, 2003 S. Quinto (Guatemala, Guatemala) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is the best Greatest Hits available from her, it includes all her releases singles from the three album she made with Arista. Taylor Dayne made the stament that you don't have to be just a pretty face with great beats to make classic club jems, you can also have a VOICE, Taylor Dayne's voice it's unmistakeble and recognized, this cd proves it!, such guilty pleasure hearint to "Say A Prayer" a club anthem asking for loving, "Tell It To MY Heart" a plead for love with great 80's synth, a classic, "I'll Always Love You" you will learn to like it, I did, smooth elevator ballad, "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love" what a remake so good, "With Every Beat Of My Heart", so delightful and danceable, "Love Will Lead You Back" her one and only #1, great ballad intendted to be for Tina Turner?, thank God, Taylor got it, but after all I don't like it hehe, "Don't Rush Me" common Taylor everybody wants it!, "Prove Your Love" I always felt this one's a filler song, it should have become a top 10, "I'll Be Your Shelter" wannabe rock song, with great results, this song is very good in the vocals and the lyrics, no wonder was another top 10, "Heart Of Stone" Adult contemporary for Taylor great video, "Send Me A Lover" why didn't this was a hit!, this is Taylor Dayne at her best!, great ballad with a lot of soul, so bittersweet lyrics, "I'll Wait" a total club anthem, i love this one, "Tell It To My Heart Tempo Mix" a few of the remakes and mixes that I can tell you that is good, "Say A Prayer" second version well not necessary. This collection should be in your cd closet, buy it, is worth it.
Fantastic Voice August 10, 2002 Aaron (Ohio, USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Taylor Dayne had a fabulous voice. A sort of cross between Whitney Houston and Kylie Minogue. It's a shame she didn't survive the mid-90's grunge and gangsta rap period. She had an impressive amount of top 10 hits. Even more than Debbie Gibson or Tiffany who are probably both remembered over Ms. Dayne. Her biggest hits being "Tell It to My Heart", "Don't Rush Me", "I'll Always Love You", and her #1 smash "Love Will Lead You Back" (all represented here.)Also here are her other considerably large songs "Prove Your Love", "Can't Get Enough of Your love' and one of my personal favorites, the Diane Warren penned "I'll Be Your Shelter." Perhaps her most underrated song "Send Me A Lover" is also generously included. I don't think it was a big hit, although it might have been a minor hit. So for fans of late 80's/early 90's pop, Taylor Dayne's "Greatest Hits" is a must have. Her voice stood out from the rest and it's a shame that she's still not conquering the charts.
Captivating best-of set includes all her hits! October 15, 1998 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
All of Taylor's charting singles are gathered on this fabulous collection. Experience the evolution of one of the greatest voices to ever hit the airwaves. The set also includes a '95 mix of her most memorable hit, "Tell It to my Heart". Plus it has two new mixes of "Say A Prayer". All in all this set delivers the most value for the money. It's one of a few discs that can be listened all the way through. This is definitely a must have for your CD collection.
